On the road again: join me at an industry conference!

on the roadAh, conferences – fighting with hotel Wifi, getting lost late at night trying to find your room, or reaching the free food table just a few minutes after they take the goodies away. Yet still we go because a good conference can be a place to meet like-minded folks, make a worthwhile deal, and actually learn something. Take a look at this post to discover a somewhat complete list of relevant conferences. But if you’re interested in joining me in person, here’s where you’ll find me (and remember, I’m not a real doctor – so don’t tell me about that pain in your back!):

  • RecPlusBarcelona, Spain; March 5-6; This conference has been running for a number of years, and tends to have lots of speakers – and consequently, lots of content. If you’re based in North America, it’s a great way to connect with the European recruiting community; and if you’re already in Europe, it’s a one-stop shop for networking and making deals. I will actually be on the agenda – along with Andrea Bertone – and there will be speakers from Google, Talent Tech Labs, College Recruiter, Jobartis, Hiring Solved, and more. Hope you can make it – in March it may even be sunny in Barcelona! (NOTE: Use the code HEARMESPEAK15 for a 15% discount).
  • TAtech Leadership Summit on Recruitment MarketingChicago, IL; April 17-18; This conference with a very long name is sponsored by Smashfly, a key player in the recruitment marketing space. If you read my blog, you’ve seen me use ‘recruitment marketing’ and ‘job boards’ interchangeably, because in fact the former term is more accurate. I’m looking forward to learning more of how recruitment marketing folks view the industry, and where they see it going. And – given that it’s Chicago – I fully expect to experience a spring snowfall!
  • Jobg8 SummitDenver, CO; June 25-26; One of the key conferences in the industry, the Jobg8 Summit will have its usual mix of speakers, parties, and networking. As with last year’s event, I am organizing most of the speakers, so you know it will be good (or if it isn’t, you know who to blame!). Plus: the altitude in Denver will make the June heat a little easier to take.

Hopefully I’ve tempted you to put on your travelling shoes for at least one of these – and if I did, be sure to say hello! The best thing for me about any conference is meeting people like you and talking about what happens next in our interesting industry.
