The 2026 Global Recruitment Site Platform Survey: A Look Back Before We Launch Forward
Happy Friday, Job Board Doctor friends!
First, I want to say a huge thank you for all of the support and reaction to last week’s article, The Sonderling Doctrine. I realize I took a big chance in publishing it. I want to say I am fully digesting the feedback and I want you all to know this is a discussion we will certainly continue to have as I dig deeper and have more important conversations. So thank you.
Second, I am writing to you 35,000 feet in the air on my way back to the States for the first time in a little over 9 months. I am already missing my beloved Portugal, but I am over the moon to see my daughters this week, celebrate my mom’s birthday and see my niece off to junior year homecoming.
Talroo brings clarity to improve new-hire retention
You filled the seat, but not with someone who plans to stay. The candidate made it through your entire interview process while quietly interviewing with other companies that pay 25% more.
When expectations aren't clear up front, retention suffers.
Get clarity up front with Talroo's SmartQualify.
I will also be seeing a lot of you over the next few weeks.
Next stop is RecFest US, followed by a fun side quest to Cabo to marry off our best friends, then off to SIA in Dallas and House of HR in Amsterdam.
To cap off 2026 conference season, I’m heading to London on 8 October for the Job Boards Connect Annual Conference, where I’ll be hosting the closing panel, “The Job Board Leader’s Playbook for 2027.”
Which brings me to this week’s topic.
What the 2026 Survey Told Us
Seven months ago we released the fully redesigned 2026 Global Recruitment Site Platform Survey, built on responses from 103 job board operators across 13+ countries. Before the 2027 edition opens, this is a good moment to revisit what the data told us and to check how the year has played out against it.
48% of respondents derived 81 to 100% of their revenue from job advertising alone, a concentration that leaves the industry exposed when hiring slows.
The findings were direct. 48% also reported flat or declining year over year posting volumes. At the same time, 68% were testing or had integrated AI tools, and 51% remained optimistic about the following 12 months. Email job alerts and organic search were still the highest quality traffic sources, while 28% of operators were not using paid search despite strong quality ratings from those who were.
68% were testing or had integrated AI tools, and 51% remained optimistic about the following 12 months.
Resilience over growth was the theme, and much of 2026 has confirmed it. Consolidation, litigation, and continued pressure on posting volumes have made diversification less of a recommendation and more of a requirement.
Diversification is less of a recommendation and more of a requirement.
The 2027 Survey Launches Next Month
Now for the news: the 2027 Global Recruitment Site Platform Survey launches next month at Job Boards Connect. The survey retains the traffic quality, product revenue ranking, and AI adoption questions so we can measure real year over year movement, and adds new sections shaped by what operators told us mattered most.
The 2027 survey opens at Job Boards Connect, London, 8 October 2026. Same core questions, so the year over year movement is real.

Until Next Time,
