How job boards are responding to the pandemic, round two

responding to the pandemicBack in the middle of April, I took a look at how job boards around the world are responding to the pandemic. Well, in the weeks that followed, there’s been even more activity. As different countries begin the first tiny steps of opening back up, let’s see how job boards are helping:

  • Censia launches ReadyToHire initiative: Censia, a recruiting artificial intelligence technology, has launched the ReadyToHire initiative, which uses AI to match workers laid off by the companies due to the COVID-19 pandemic to job openings at companies with urgent hiring needs. This program is free to use for companies and individuals and does not require integration or installation. The company uses AI to model thousands of factors that predict role fit, discovers transferable skills, and finds qualified people from Censia’s database of 500+ million professionals. Interesting – and the price is right.
  • CareerBliss offers free job ads: CareerBliss, a career community, is now offering free job ads to help those impacted by the Coronavirus get back to work. “Two things are clear: millions of people need jobs, and employers are eager to get back to business. We want to help them do just that,” said Heidi Golledge, Co-founder, CEO and Chief Happiness Officer of CareerBliss. Smart move.
  • Dice launches COVID serviceDice has released a COVID-19 Jobs Resource Center to help technologists manage their career, and to assist employers in understanding tech trends and recruiting tech talent during and beyond the  coronavirus pandemic . Dice also released its Q1 Tech Job Report, which contains early expert insights on how the coronavirus pandemic is impacting the technology industry, the company said. The Dice COVID-19 Jobs Resource Center is a new tool for clients and candidates that includes upcoming virtual career fairs, data visualizations of job posting and job title trends, open remote jobs, roles by location, tech career and hiring resources, along with the latest industry insights and articles. Interesting.
  • NHS Jobs partners with LinkedInNHS Jobs, the official online recruitment service for the NHS in England and Wales, is working with LinkedIn to promote COVID-19 specific roles as ‘urgent’ on LinkedIn’s platform. David Roberts, Head of Service for NHS Jobs, said: “The NHS Jobs team have been working to make it easier for jobseekers to find roles relating to COVID-19 and have been implementing measures to increase the reach of NHS vacancies.” Another good move.
  • Upwork offers grants to employers Upwork is offering organizations up to $25,000 in grants as part of a $1 million effort “to help develop and accelerate projects whose mission is tied directly to mitigating COVID-19’s devastating impact on individuals, communities and economies.” The money from this initiative, which Upwork is calling the Work Together Talent Grants Program, will go directly to freelancers on the company’s platform. Grant recipients will receive credits on Upwork toward the cost of hiring independent contractors “across technology, creative, marketing and operations.” They also will receive assistance in finding professionals to hire for projects. Good idea.
  • CollegeRecruiter offers COVID-specific contentThe folks at CollegeRecruiter have always produced a lot of content for their audience of recent graduates, but the changes brought on by the pandemic seem to have inspired a burst of activity from them. If you’re curious, take a look at their YouTube output. A good example of how a job board is helping their candidates.
  • Jobberman offers free ads in NigeriaJobberman announced on April 7th, 2020, that the  Job Listing option on its platform will be available free of charge for the next three months to businesses of all sizes and industries during the period of the pandemic with the launch of its campaign titled, #UnityInAdversity. In addition to this, Jobberman will be offering discounts on its premium products, for organizations in special need and targeted discounts for clients in the healthcare and critical sectors. And another smart move.

A lot of things going on – and I only expect more news as companies start hiring again and continue responding to the pandemic. That’s good for all of us!
